Spirit eLearning School (SeLS), Prairie Spirit School Division’s (PSSD) online school, held its first in-person Grade 12 graduation celebration on Thursday, June 16, at the Division Office in Warman.

Fourteen Grade 12 graduates will complete their high school diploma this year through Prairie Spirit’s Kindergarten to Grade 12 online school. The graduates represent many communities across PSSD. Seven of the graduates celebrated their achievement at the graduation ceremony.

Spirit eLearning School began offering online learning opportunities to students of all ages during the 2020/21 school year, in response to the COVID pandemic.

“Prairie Spirit is very proud to offer a strong and supportive online learning program for our students,” said PSSD Education Director Darryl Bazylak. “We recognize that students and families make the decision to pursue learning online for a variety of reasons and SeLS effectively meets their needs.”

“The graduating students and school staff planned the graduation ceremony together virtually, which can be a challenge,” said SeLS Principal Neda Wilson. “Fortunately, we are uniquely skilled in working together online, since our school motto is: Learning Is Everywhere.”

Spirit eLearning School serves almost 200 Prairie Spirit students in Kindergarten through Grade 12 from communities throughout the school division. SeLS is based in Warman.
